In 2004, I was emailed by an up and coming, saxophonist from Ukraine about whether I would like a CD for play list consideration. I said, "Sure, why not?" I took a listen and was amazed by the crisp and clear sound of his music.

Here is my original review of Konstanin's debut CD, "Downtown".

There comes a day when you listen to a CD for the first time and just get overwhelmed. That's the feeling I got upon listening to the debut release by this Saxophonist from the Ukraine. Konstantin has a nice music resume and some frequent flyer mileage to his credit. He has toured all over the world showcasing his talent and has finally settled down in Holland (the Netherlands), where he recorded this CD. The minute you put the first song on, "Downtown", you are hooked!! His style reminds you of David Sanborn and Candy Dulfer. All of the tracks on this CD are awesome!! I especially love the tracks, "Sunday", "Morning Song" & "Wild Fellow". I never got tired of listening to it! This CD is, without a doubt, the best recording I've heard in a long time! The last time I heard a high quality CD like this was the debut of another one of my favorite saxophonists, Boney James over 10 years ago. The CD is currently only available in Europe. Once the CD is released on this side of the Atlantic, I can only see great things happening to this up and coming artist.

He's come along way, but five years later, Konstantin Klashtorni's music has finally been recognized. In April 2009, his latest CD entitled, "Smoothing" will be released in North America by NuGroove Records. Konstantin joins some pretty impressive company on the label. Other artists who call "NuGroove" home includes pianist Bob Baldwin, saxophonist Michael Lington, and guitarists Torcuato Mariano, Steve Oliver and Brian Tarquin.

Konstantin is a shining example of the power of Internet radio. It harkens back to the days of FM radio in the late 60's and early 70's, when a few stations played an obscure music genre that would later be known as, "Heavy Metal" or "Album-Oriented Rock". It also shows just how important Internet radio is in developing new and unheard of artists.

Without Internet radio stations like "Smooth Jazz and More", Konstantin probably never would have been discovered.
