Lisa Hilton Interview

September 3rd, 2008

2007 turned out to be a rough year for jazz pianist, Lisa Hilton.

Like many residents in Malibu, California; the area was rocked by a series of wildfires. The unusual conditions in January (usually the rainy season) resulted in hundreds of residents losing their homes.

Along with other personal losses, this made her 2008 release, “Sunny Day Theory”, have even more meaning. The CD gave Hilton a sense of purpose.

"When things are rough and you're going through a difficult period of time, think of all the things that are going right and focus on that.", said Hilton, who talked to me one morning in late August of 2008.

"It could be walking outside on the beach on a beautiful day, being with friends or family, or my dog (her Italian Greyhound, "Ricky").

Despite all the problems, Hilton has continued to compose and work with some of the greats in music.
